Have you always dreamed of getting married surrounded by freshly fallen snow? Winter Outdoor weddings can be tricky, but they aren’t impossible. If your heart is set, then plan your special occasion the way you want it to be—cold weather, snow and all! Here are four tips to ensure you, your wedding party, and your guests enjoy your wintery wonderland of a wedding.
1. Let Your Guests Know Early
If you’re planning a winter wedding in an outdoor venue, make sure you let your friends and family know your plans ahead of time. Include recommendations for attire, as well as a list of accommodations you’ll be providing (i.e. hot cocoa, blankets, and gloves).
2. Dress Accordingly
Obviously the cooler weather should play a part in the selection of your attire. The same goes for your wedding party. Short, sleeveless dresses are probably out. It’s a safer bet to choose longer gowns that provide more protections from the cold. It may also be a good idea to give your girls matching shawls.
3. Bring Heaters and/or Blankets
There’s a reason most people choose to have their wedding during the summer; it’s cold in the winter! While you may not mind the cold so much, keep in mind that your guests might. Make sure you have plenty of space heaters and blankets available for those taking part in your big day.
4. Serve Warm Drinks
Another way to counter the cold is to serve warmer drinks to your guests. Consider adding hot chocolate, cider, and tea to your beverage area. This small change could make a big difference for your guests.
